Still have questions? We've got you.
What is Ceremonial Matcha Green Tea?
It is TEAME's highest matcha grade — the youngest spring-harvest Shizuoka leaves, stone-ground finely — meant to be whisked with just hot water and drunk on its own. TEAME is part of Madhu Jayanti International, a tea house with 80+ years of sourcing experience, and all TEAME teas are 100% natural with no added sugar or artificial flavours.
What is the difference between ceremonial and culinary grade?
Ceremonial grade uses the youngest spring leaves, ground more finely, and is naturally sweeter and smoother to drink straight. Culinary grade is bolder and designed to mix with milk, honey or recipes.
Should I use ceremonial matcha for cooking?
It is best drunk straight; using ceremonial grade in recipes wastes both the flavour and the price difference. Choose a culinary matcha for lattes and baking.
How do I prepare it?
Sift about 1 teaspoon into a cup, add 3–4 tablespoons of water at around 70°C (not boiling), and whisk into a smooth paste. Top with hot water, or with frothed milk for a latte. Ceremonial grade is usually enjoyed with just hot water, no milk needed.
Does it contain caffeine?
Yes — roughly 35–70mg per teaspoon, with L-theanine for steady, calm focus.
Is it authentic Japanese matcha?
Yes. It is sourced directly from Shizuoka, Japan — not blended or reconstituted after import.
What does it taste like?
Grassy, umami and naturally sweet, without bitterness when made with water below 80°C.
Does it contain added sugar?
No. It contains no added sugar and no artificial flavours or preservatives. Any sweetness comes from the natural ingredients, and you can add your own honey or sweetener to taste.
How should I store it?
Keep it sealed, cool and away from light and moisture; reseal promptly and use within a few weeks of opening.
